3rd & 4th Grade

🧠 Academic Excellence in 3rd & 4th Grade

At EDUPRIZE, our 3rd and 4th grade programs are structured to provide the rigor of the Arizona College and Career Ready Standards while maintaining the hands-on, differentiated approach that defines our school.

Students begin to take on greater academic responsibility with opportunities for critical thinking, independent work, and collaborative learning—setting a strong foundation for upper elementary success.

➗ Math That Builds Thinkers

Our students don’t just solve problems—they understand the “why” behind them.

  • 🧮 Eureka Math provides manipulative-based instruction that ensures deep understanding of core concepts.

  • 🗣️ Number Talks allow students to verbally explain their thought process, improving comprehension and transfer of skills.

  • 📈 Math fact fluency, timed practice, and computer-based diagnostics are used to personalize instruction and monitor growth.

  • ✏️ Students describe their own strategies, helping them move from computation to confident application across all subjects.

📚 Language Arts & Writing Across the Curriculum

Reading and writing instruction is both rigorous and deeply engaging in 3rd and 4th grade.

  • 📖 Benchmark Advance offers vertically aligned reading units that promote deep comprehension and vocabulary development.

  • ✍️ Lucy Calkins’ Writers Workshop and Six Traits of Writing allow students to write for a variety of audiences and purposes.

  • 🎯 All students are pre-tested and grouped according to their needs, with flexible instruction that adapts as they grow.

  • 📊 Benchmark assessments guide teachers and inform families on student progress throughout the year.

Writing is fully integrated into all subject areas, giving students frequent opportunities to express ideas, support opinions, and reflect on their learning.

🔬 Cottage Learning, Technology & Whole-Child Growth

Our Cottage-based science program continues in 3rd and 4th grade, diving deeper into Earth, life, and physical sciences each quarter.

🧪 Cottages & Integrated Projects:

  • Students apply what they’re learning in reading, writing, math, and social studies to create projects and products

  • Projects are shared during our quarterly Cottage Fairs, celebrating student creativity and academic mastery

  • Learning is cross-curricular, hands-on, and focused on real-world application

💻 Technology for the Future:

  • Students use Chromebooks, iPads, and desktop applications daily

  • Classrooms are technology-rich, supporting research, collaboration, and digital literacy

  • Diagnostic tools allow teachers to differentiate instruction and ensure students get the right level of challenge and support

By combining strong academics, integrated technology, and meaningful project work, EDUPRIZE students in 3rd and 4th grade grow into curious, capable, and confident learners—ready for what’s next.
