📚 Academics That Come to Life
Language Arts:
Our language arts instruction is rooted in phonics-based learning, the Lucy Calkins framework, and real-world application. Students use journals, word walls, rhyming activities, and sentence building to develop reading and writing skills in creative, memorable ways. Themed science-based units—called Cottages—integrate literacy with hands-on exploration.
Mathematics:
Math instruction includes Eureka Math, C.G.I. (Cognitively Guided Instruction), and interactive learning strategies like calendar math, journals, and concrete manipulatives. Students begin with hands-on problem-solving and grow into abstract mathematical thinking while learning to explain their process with confidence.
Science through Cottages:
Our unique Cottage program integrates daily science instruction into thematic units like habitats, weather, and anatomy. Students apply what they’re learning in math and language arts through projects, presentations, and lab experiences that promote deep understanding and excitement for discovery.

Kindergarten Cottages
Students explore how their senses can detect light, sound, and vibration and how
technology can be used to extend their senses.
Students will understand their roles and responsibilities as citizens within their own context as well as their own culture.
Students develop an understanding of patterns to understand changes in local weather, seasonal cycles, and daylight.
Students develop an understanding of how plants & animals survive and that the world is comprised of living and non-living things.
