The Arizona Education Tax Credit allows individuals and married couples filing jointly to redirect a portion of their state tax liability to support extracurricular activities at public schools. Contributions are non-refundable and subject to state guidelines.
More Information
Arizona tax law (A.R.S. § 43-1089.01), allows individual Arizona taxpayers a tax credit of up to $200 and joint filing taxpayers up to $400 if they contribute to extracurricular activities in Arizona public schools. This tax credit is available to all who reside in Arizona and have a tax liability at least equal to that of their donation. You do not have to be a parent of an EDUPRIZE child to benefit from this law. However, corporations are not eligible.
Extracurricular activities (ECA) are optional, school-sponsored programs that require a fee and enhance the educational experience. ECA contributions support sports, music, and exciting field trips. Each year, students enjoy two off-campus trips on chartered coaches to places like the Halle Heart Museum, Biosphere II, Challenger Space Museum, and Kartchner Caverns—aligning perfectly with our science-based Cottage themes.
Extra Curricular Activity Donations are non-refundable.
Unrestricted ECA Donations Only. If you would like to make a designated (restricted use) donation, please do so on the public store or parent portal indicated in the comments. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Please consult your tax advisor to determine the application of the credit
FAQs
Arizona Education Tax Credit
The Arizona Education Tax Credit allows single taxpayers or a head of household a credit of up to $200, and married couples filing jointly, up to $400 if they contribute to eligible extracurricular activities to our schools by April 15 of each year. You’ll receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on your state income taxes, which means taxpayers will have the amount of the contribution subtracted from the amount of taxes owed. This tax credit is available to all taxpayers, not just those with children in public schools.
This program has benefited thousands of our EDUPRIZE students over the years that might not otherwise have had the financial resources to participate in high school activities.
It’s a win-win. You contribute to public schools and make a real difference in the lives of young people, and the state gives you full credit for your generosity. Guaranteed.
WHAT IS A TAX CREDIT?
A tax credit is NOT a donation! It IS a dollar-for-dollar reduction in the state income
tax you pay. If your tax credit contribution is more than the amount of state tax you owe, the credit can be carried
forward up to five years. Receiving this tax credit will allow you to reduce the amount you owe the state or
increase your refund. When filing your income tax return for the State of Arizona, the amount you designate to
your school will be the amount you may claim as a state tax credit. This payment is eligible for Arizona state
income tax credit as allowed by A.R.S. §43-1089.01. Tax credit contributions are non-refundable.
APRIL 15 RELATE BACK:
A person may donate prior to filing taxes, but no later than April 15 (whichever comes first), and claim the credit for the previous year’s taxes
