Expectations and Family Partnership
The EDUPRIZE Online family–school partnership empowers families to design a learning schedule that works best for their student, while the school provides clear expectations around grading and learning routines for grades 6–12.
With shared expectations, families are not expected to carry the work alone. They are powerful partners in their student’s online success.
How course grades are determined
Grades in EDUPRIZE Online Instruction reflect progress, mastery, and engagement over time—not just one test or assignment. Course grades are based on:
- Completion of lessons, assignments, and assessments in Subject.
- Demonstrated mastery within each module.
- Using opportunities to review content and retake exams when needed.
High school students earn official EDUPRIZE credits toward graduation. The ability to redo modules and assessments supports real learning and gives students multiple opportunities to succeed.
EDUPRIZE Online family expectations partnership at a glance
Families play a key role in online learning. In the EDUPRIZE Online family expectations partnership, caregivers are not asked to be the teacher, but they are invited to be steady learning partners.
Caregivers are expected to:
- Help the student commit to around five hours per day or twenty five hours per week of learning.
- Support organization, planning, and pacing of work.
- Check progress at least weekly in each class.
- Encourage consistent communication with EOI staff.
- Create a reliable, distraction reduced learning environment at home.
- Communicate with the EOI principal when questions or concerns arise.
When families and school work together, students benefit from both flexibility and structure, building the habits they will need for college, work, and life.
Technology required for EDUPRIZE Online
To participate successfully in EOI, families need a basic but reliable setup for online learning. This helps students stay connected, focused, and ready to learn each day.
Families should have:
- A working laptop or desktop computer.
- Reliable internet access.
- Headphones (recommended for focus and privacy).
- A quiet, consistent space for learning.
A simple, organized workspace can make a big difference in how confident students feel starting each learning day.
What happens if a student falls behind
If a student begins to fall behind, the EOI team steps in early. The goal is to reconnect the student with learning before small gaps become bigger barriers.
Support may include:
- Outreach from the EOI principal to understand what is happening.
- Communication with parents or guardians to problem solve next steps.
- Support sessions or an adjusted weekly plan.
- Clear pacing expectations and concrete action steps.
If a student remains inactive, the school must withdraw them according to state law. Before that point, EDUPRIZE works with families to remove obstacles and guide the student back into regular engagement.
