Cottages are an EDUPRIZE original
These quarterly, thematic focuses allow students to learn and apply basic skills through a hands-on, science-based program. Cross-curricular instruction ensures students can transfer knowledge to new content areas and stay actively engaged. Our Cottages offer multiple-modality, 9-week units in Life Science, Physical Science, Social Science, and Earth Science, from Kindergarten through 6th grade.
A full year of Cottages
All About Me
Students explore how their senses can detect light, sound, and vibration and how technology can be used to extend their senses.
Celebrations
Students will understand their roles and responsibilities as citizens within their own context as well as their own culture.
Habitats
Students explore weather patterns and seasonal cycles and how they impact plants and animals in their habitats.
Life Cycles
Students develop an understanding of how plants & animals survive and that the world is comprised of living and non-living things.
Wavelength Arcade
Students develop an understanding of the effects of forces and waves, and how they can impact or be impacted by objects near and far away.
Plymouth Plantation
Students develop an understanding of how a community functions, including their local community, and how each member contributes to the common good.
Resource Resort
Students develop an understanding that earth materials are essential for an organism's survival.
Bird House
Students develop an understanding that Earth supports a large variety of organisms and their survival depends on earth resources.
Sweet Shop
Students develop an understanding of observable properties of matter and how changes in energy (heating or cooling) can affect matter or materials.
Global Exchange
Students develop an understanding of the world around them, gaining insight on how other cultures and civilizations have influenced who we are as a community, state, and nation.
Weather Station
Students develop an understanding of the role of water and wind in weather and its environmental impact. They study changing patterns in the sky with the position of the Sun, Moon, and stars.
Dinosaur Dig
Students develop an understanding that life on Earth depends on energy from the Sun or energy from other organisms to survive.
Illumination Station
Students develop an understanding of the sources, properties, and characteristics of energy along with the relationship between energy transfer and the human body.
Plant Nursery
Students develop an understanding of the flow of energy in a system beginning with the Sun to and among organisms. They also understand what plants and animals do to increase survival.
Desert Lab
Students develop an understanding of how the Sun provides light and energy for Earth systems.
Arizona Highways
Students study Arizona, focusing on contributions of various cultural and ethnic groups, economic and political elements, structure of government, and roles of citizens.
Energy Lab
Students learn how Earth's resources can be transformed into energy and develop a better understanding of electricity and magnetism.

Exploration Station
Students study the Americas: theories of development, exploration and colonization, and the roles and responsibilities of members in a society.
Physics Foundry
Students develop an understanding that changes can occur to matter and objects on Earth or in space, but energy and matter follow the pattern of being conserved during those changes.
Gene Machine
Students develop an understanding of patterns and how genetic information is passed from generation to generation, and how genetics and environment impact an organism's survival.
Planetarium
Students develop an understanding of how gravitational forces in space cause observable patterns due to the position of Earth, Sun, Moon, and stars.
American Dream
Students study U.S. history, including historic and economic events, the creation of the Constitution, development of government, immigration, and civic roles and responsibilities.
