Welcome Back, EDUPRIZE Eagles!
Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! My name is Heather Vehon-Manfredi, and I am honored to serve as the Principal of EDUPRIZE.
This year marks my 24th year in education, my 12th year at EDUPRIZE, and my second year as principal. As an Arizona native, I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University. I later completed a Master’s Degree in Multicultural Education from Northern Arizona University and, in May 2022, earned a second Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University.
My journey in education began on the Gila River Reservation, where I taught 3rd and 4th grades and supported teachers in strengthening math instruction. I later served as an Educational Consultant, partnering with schools to provide professional development and support school improvement efforts. I returned to the classroom when my son, Julian, began kindergarten here at EDUPRIZE. From 2019 to 2025, I had the privilege of serving as Dean of Students/Assistant Principal, and last year I stepped into the role of Principal.
Throughout my career, I have found deep joy in both teaching and leadership. What brings me the greatest fulfillment is watching students learn and grow, supporting our incredible teachers, and building strong partnerships with families. EDUPRIZE is a truly special place where each child is known and valued as an individual – in their academics, character development, and personal growth. Last year, we proudly earned our 6th A+ School of Excellence award, a reflection of our shared commitment to helping every student thrive.
It is an honor to serve this amazing community of dedicated staff, supportive families, and exceptional students. I look forward to partnering with you to make this an outstanding school year for all.
Sincerely,
Heather Vehon-Manfredi
Principal
Welcome, families, to EDUPRIZE, a school where every student is seen. We are grateful you have chosen to be part of our family this year. I am Meg Deist, Elementary Dean of Students. This is my 22nd year in education, and my second year as Dean. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology and my master’s degree in education. I gained countless experience in the classroom teaching 3rd–6th grades in several settings and diverse populations, all of which I bring to my leadership role as a former teacher, a mother, and a lifelong student myself.
I truly believe that every student deserves to feel loved, seen, and safe. I make every effort to meet our students where they are and help them grow into kind and contributing citizens. Building relationships and connecting with our students and families is a vital part of my role. My philosophy is anchored in service and growth. I believe in making mistakes, owning those mistakes, and growing to be better every day.
I find deep satisfaction and joy in seeing our students grow to become accountable self-advocates both in and out of the classroom. My priority is safety and belonging. When we all feel part of the whole, the community will succeed. EDUPRIZE is more than a school; it is a family with a culture of respect, love, and encouragement.
My heart is with students, and I am humbled and honored to serve our community every day. At EDUPRIZE, we work hard, love fiercely, and strive to THRIVE. Thank you for trusting us.
Be the Light,
Meg Deist
