  • Prefers an alternative to a traditional school environment.
  • Needs flexible scheduling for travel, family goals, or competitive activities.

Graduation and college options for EOI students

Can my child graduate with an EDUPRIZE diploma

Yes. Students enrolled in EDUPRIZE Online School can earn a full EDUPRIZE High School diploma. To graduate, EOI students must:

  • Complete all Arizona high school graduation requirements.
  • Earn the required credits in English language arts, math, science, social studies, and electives.
  • Successfully pass course assessments and demonstrate mastery.
  • Participate in required state testing, including ACT, AASA, and AzSci.
  • Remain enrolled and on pace throughout senior year.

The EOI principal partners with families to help students stay on track with credits, pacing, and post secondary planning.

Can my online child still apply to college

Yes. EOI students can apply to any college or university. They earn an official EDUPRIZE transcript and diploma, just like in person students, and their coursework meets Arizona graduation requirements.

Colleges evaluate students based on academic record, course rigor, activities, essays, and readiness. An online setting does not disadvantage students in admissions. In many cases, colleges appreciate the independence, time management, and self advocacy that online learners develop.

To support post secondary goals, the EOI principal will host college preparation sessions and guide families through applications, timelines, financial aid, and planning for life after high school.

Your child’s college pathway remains strong, supported, and fully open.

What a typical day looks like in EDUPRIZE Online

What does a typical day look like for an EOI student

EOI students have flexible hours and can complete coursework at the time that works best for their family. Students must complete about five hours per day or twenty five hours per week of academic engagement.

Academic engagement includes:

  • Completing lessons, assignments, and quizzes.
  • Attending optional online support sessions.
  • Working on long term projects.
  • Studying, reading, and taking assessments.

Hours can be distributed in ways that fit family life, such as a longer Monday and lighter Friday, weekend study blocks, or afternoon and evening learning times. Online school offers flexibility, not less rigor.

Does attendance matter in online school

Yes. Attendance in EOI is based on academic engagement. Students are expected to complete five hours per day or twenty five hours per week of meaningful work.

This includes:

  • Logging in consistently.
  • Completing assignments in each course.
  • Making weekly progress in every class.
  • Staying on or ahead of pacing expectations.

If a student begins to fall behind, we intervene early through communication with families and supportive action steps.

EVIT, dual credit, and campus connection

Can EOI students participate in EVIT or other JTED programs

Yes. EOI students may enroll in East Valley Institute of Technology or other Arizona JTED programs while completing academic coursework online. This often works very well because:

  • Students control their academic schedule.
  • Travel time is easier to manage.
  • EVIT or JTED hours complement online learning.
Can my student participate in dual credit through a community college

Yes. EOI students are eligible to take dual credit courses through Arizona community colleges. Many families choose this path so students can:

  • Earn high school and college credit at the same time.
  • Experience college level coursework.
  • Get a head start on an associate degree or certification.
  • Strengthen college applications.

Students must still meet EDUPRIZE graduation requirements and stay on pace in EOI courses. Our team will:

  • Help select appropriate dual credit classes.
  • Ensure credits transfer to the high school transcript.
  • Support a balanced, manageable schedule.

Dual credit is an excellent option for motivated students, and the flexible EOI schedule often makes participation easier.

Can my child still come to campus

Yes. EOI is fully online, but students are still part of the EDUPRIZE community. We plan to offer on campus Learning Labs for students who want an in person option.

Learning Labs are:

  • Flexible, so students may attend on days that work best.
  • Supportive, with EDUPRIZE staff who can help with coursework, organization, and questions.
  • Structured, providing quiet spaces for focused work, tutoring, or assessment prep.
  • Community building, so students can reconnect with peers while keeping an online schedule.

Learning Labs are optional and available to any EOI student in grades 6 through 12 who benefits from in person support or simply enjoys working in a school environment.

What students learn and how they are supported

What curriculum does EOI use

EOI uses Subject, a high quality, cinematic digital curriculum aligned to Arizona standards. Courses include:

  • English language arts for grades 6 through 12.
  • Math for grades 6 through 12, including Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra II.
  • Advanced Placement courses in selected subjects.
  • Science for grades 6 through 12.
  • Social studies for grades 6 through 12.
  • Electives for middle and high school.

How will my child get help

Students are not left to figure things out on their own. Subject includes built in tools, tutoring features, and real time support that guide students step by step.

Students can:

  • Watch clear instructional videos.
  • Receive instant explanations after missed questions.
  • Get immediate feedback on practice and assessments.
  • Redo modules to strengthen understanding.
  • Retake assessments to improve grades and mastery.

These features support true learning and confidence, not just completion.

Extracurriculars, special education, and testing

What about extracurriculars

EOI students may participate in extracurricular activities that are school based or community based. This can include clubs, arts programs, athletics, service projects, youth organizations, or other enrichment experiences.

These experiences matter. Extracurriculars help students build confidence, leadership, social skills, and a sense of connection, which are essential for a well rounded education.

Approved extracurricular activities count as part of the full school experience, and parents complete a short log to document participation.

How does special education or 504 support work online

EOI provides required special education and 504 services in alignment with each student’s plan. A special education teacher monitors students with IEPs and coordinates services.

Supports may include:

  • Scheduled online sessions.
  • Adjusted pacing.
  • Accommodations within Subject.
  • Additional check ins with case managers.

The special education team works closely with families to coordinate services in the online environment.

Do EOI students take state tests such as AASA, AzSci, and ACT

Yes. State testing is required for all Arizona public school students. EOI families bring students to a designated site on testing days.

EDUPRIZE will provide:

  • Multiple scheduling options when possible.
  • Advance notice of testing dates and locations.
  • Clear instructions and reminders.
  • Practice opportunities to help students feel ready.

Grades, family expectations, and technology needs

How are course grades determined

Grades in EOI reflect progress, mastery, and engagement. They are based on:

  • Completion of lessons, assignments, and assessments in Subject.
  • Demonstrated mastery within each module.
  • Use of opportunities to review content and retake exams when needed.

High school students earn official EDUPRIZE credits toward graduation. The ability to redo modules and assessments supports real learning and gives students multiple opportunities to succeed.

What are the expectations for families

Families play a key role in online learning. Caregivers are expected to:

  • Help the student commit to around five hours per day or twenty five hours per week of learning.
  • Support organization, planning, and pacing.
  • Check progress at least weekly.
  • Encourage consistent communication with EOI staff.
  • Create a reliable learning environment at home.
  • Communicate with the EOI principal when questions or concerns arise.

Families do not have to act as the teacher, but they are essential learning partners for their child.

What technology is required

To participate successfully in EOI, families need:

  • A working laptop or desktop computer.
  • Reliable internet access.
  • Headphones, recommended for focus and privacy.
  • A quiet, consistent space for learning.
What happens if my child falls behind

If a student begins to fall behind, we step in early. Support may include:

  • Outreach from the EOI principal.
  • Communication with parents or guardians.
  • Support sessions or an adjusted plan.
  • Clear pacing expectations and next steps.

If a student remains inactive, the school must withdraw the student according to state law. Before that point, we work with families to problem solve and reconnect the student with learning.
